We started our morning by completing our Literacy Centers for the week. All children should now be familiar with the strategies of Lips The Fish (looking at the first letter to figure out a word) and Eagle Eye (looking at the picture to figure out a word).
We also completed our math stations. The Kindergarteners really seemed to enjoy "Reading The Room". We will do a similar activity next week during our Literacy Times. All children should also now know how to play top it, using the vocabulary of "Greater Than" and "Less Than".
The class loved using the water droppers during science as we observed the way that wood absorbs into a piece of particleboard, but stays on a piece of regular wood. We also did some sink and float activities. I introduced the language of "I observed that..." and "I noticed that" in order to help the children explain their thinking in a more precise way.
