It's beginning to feel a lot like summer, especially today! The children came in very excited about the warm weather and we did spend time outdoors with our water bottles. However, there is still more learning to do, so the class worked hard inside the classroom today, too!
We reviewed and practiced making new words during Fundations and making sentences with our words. Using sentence strips, we changed words to make new sentences, continuing to emphasize capital letters at the beginning of sentences and ending punctuation. We also started our day with a sound sort focusing on ending sounds.
During math shuffle, the Kindergarteners separated into groups and continued to work on accurate, counting, more than/less than, and addition and subtraction equations.
After reviewing Alex's poster, Ms. Dennehy modeled how to draw Alex, our Star of The Week. The Kindergarteners then took all their new knowledge about Alex to write his Star of The Week book. We hope you enjoy your book, Alex!
We ended our day making birds out of yarn. We look forward to hanging these birds in our classroom soon!
