We started our morning with math stations which felt very strange (since we usually do math in the afternoon!!) We finished all of our math rotations, so the students have now all had a chance to review the shape games we have been playing and to review the names of shapes.
During Phonics today, we used the pocket chart to manipulate and change words based on the beginning sounds, ending sounds, or middle sounds. The class did a fabulous job segmenting the sounds and then blending them back together to figure out the new word!
We also spent time in the computer lab today using Symphony Math. We continued to "think-aloud" for strategies to solve problems with a missing addend or missing sum or difference. We are also encouraging to use words such as "addend", "sum" and "difference" when explaining their thinking.
We spent the last part of our day making the rain gauges that we planned last week. Ms. Johnson joined us during this time and helped us put our rain gauges in the garden. Our plan is to see if our rain gauges work, and if not, redesign and recreate them again!
