Today we shared about our feelings about our weekend. I then suggested that the Kindergarteners begin their journals with the sentence starter "I felt . ___________" to encourage different sentence structure. Many children tried this, along with a picture to describe their weekend.
During Literacy Centers, I continued to work with a small group for guided reading, while Ms. Dennehy played a vowel game. Others sorted words by beginning sound during this time. Other children were reading together in our library area.
We started learning about Maya, our Star of The Week. We opened up our "mind files" and added it to information about Maya. We look forward to guessing your clues tomorrow, Maya!
Math was very busy today! Children worked with Ms. Dennehy to decompose numbers and then create an art piece called "Birds on a Wire". Students worked with me on "grab bag subtraction" and created subtraction number sentences. Others worked on Symphony Math and another group worked together to create out of texture shapes. Tomorrow, the groups will shift again.
