First of all, thank you to all the parents and students for being a part of our "gift" today. With Stephanie Galloway, Chris Orcutt and Elmide Saint-Fort's help, the children presented us with beautiful notes and cards which went into coffee mugs which Ms Dennehy and I look forward to using. We were so surprised and touched by the words and the sentiment felt during this time. Thank you so much!
We had a really great day today before our surprise. We learned a new December poem which we used to fill in our December calendar and to learn how to spell December. We then sat around our "campfire" and sang and read many of our poems.
During Writer's Workshop today we wrote a letter to Eric Carle. I am planning to mail it- let's see if he responds! The children also persevered through a tricky creative writing prompt which wasn't as engaging as I thought it would be (oh well, it does happen sometimes!) But I was impressed how all the children stuck with it and then were happy to share what they had written.
We finished our day with a math glyph. Again, the class amazed us with their ability to follow directions and respond accurately to create a representation to answer the question "What and where do you like to read?" We will have these displayed in our room shortly for you to see!
Tomorrow we look forward to time with our buddies, learning centers, and library!
