We started our morning with a very enriching School Meeting which focused on February being Black History Month. Mr. Jones spoke to the students about some famous African Americans, such as Booker T. Washington, Maya Angelou, and Martin Luther King. We saw a video portraying many African Americans who have had a big impact on our history.
During phonics today, the Kindergarteners were introduced to the sound of short e-pecking hen and we brainstormed and wrote CVC words that have a short E. As the students transitioned to Writer's Workshop, we encouraged them to think about the sound of short E in their writing.
We ended the day by working on a art project to reflect the phrase that March comes "in like a lion and out like a lion". We shared a poem and talked about what this phrase means. We will continue this project tomorrow morning.
