I feel fortunate to be in my thirteenth year at Loker School. Before teaching at Loker School, I taught First Grade for eight years in Newton, Massachusetts before coming to Loker. I have a degree in Psychology from UMass/Amherst and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University.
When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my husband, son (who is an 8th Grader at the Wayland Middle School) , my daughter (who is a Fourth Grader at Happy Hollow), and our black lab Summit. I also love being outside, running, reading, and going out to eat!
It is very important to me to get to know each child in my class as an individual. "I Can't" are two words that are discouraged in our classroom-- we talk a lot about ways to ask for help and to know that with support, each child CAN accomplish anything! I work hard to get to know each student and his/her family as I feel the home-school connection to be essential for the success of each of my students. With warmth, humor, and high expectations, I feel that the students in my class gain confidence, skills, and an excitement for learning which I hope will stay with them their whole learning career.
