It was a beautiful day outside and inside today! The children started new Literacy Centers today which included learning our first reading strategy of Eagle Eye- Eagle Eye encourages readers to look at the picture to figure out unknown words. Other children worked on word sorts independently, while others worked with Ms. Dennehy on sounds at the end of words.
During math, we continued our math stations from yesterday as we counted and compared different piles of objects. Feel free to practice this at home! You can encourage your child to grab a handful of an object (paper clips, markers, crayons work well) and compare it to a pile that you grab. Also, ask your child to count the pile and encourage him/her to move the objects as they are counted.
We finished the day with Learning Centers. The Kindergarteners had a great time playing Sorry (working on game strategies), making acorns with tissue paper and also using our doll house for role-playing and cooperative learning.
