The Kindergarteners had such a blast at our morning table top activities- they could choose to build with magna tiles, work with K-Nex, make shapes and designs on geoboards, or explore and read books from our "Mr and Mrs: collection of books. All the children made good choices- it was a great way to start the day!
After gym, we continued our Literacy Centers. Each child has now been introduced to the reading strategy of Eagle Eye- Eagle Eye encourages the reader to look at the picture to figure out an unknown word or phrase in the book. We also introduced the sound for the letter P- Popping Popcorn and brainstormed words to go with the letter P.
We finished our day with partner work during math. In pairs, the children were asked to use tracers to make the different parts of a scarecrow. Then, they were asked to put some crows on one shoulder and some on the other shoulder of the scarecrow. They then had to figure out which shoulder had more crows and how many more. Lastly, they were asked to give their scarecrow a name. These will be displayed outside our classroom soon!
