We started our morning by putting a new poem in our poetry folders. The poem was entitled "Pitter Patter Raindrops" and was accompanied by hand motions which the KIndergarteners loved! We sat around the fire and also read and sang other poems and songs in our Poetry Folder.
During Writer's Workshop and Reading Workshop, we focused on the word family "at". I introduced the skill of just saying "at" when you saw the combination of a and t and then blending with the beginning sound of a word. The children were encouraged to notice word patterns both in their writing and reading times today.
During math today , the children were given the choice of different board games to play. Choices included "Uno", "Quirkle", "Jenga", "Candyland" and "Sorry". Remarkably, every person was able to play the game that he/she wanted. The excitement and laughter in the air was contagious!
