This morning we completed our page in our All About Me book about our favorite animal. Using step-by-step directions that were scattered around the classroom, the children had fun "going out of their comfort zone" and drawing some of their most loved animals.
We were treated to a fabulous high school concert today. We heard the Honors String ,Honors Band, and Honors Chorus perform. All of the KIndergarteners enjoyed singing and rocking to the fabulous music!
We started math by using our bodies to grow and shrink. We then used a ten frame (with dots instead of frames) to grow and shrink numbers 1-10. We discussed, for example, that if you have 5 cubes on your board, and then want to show 7 cubes, you can just add 2 more cubes instead of starting all over again. We will work on this concept throughout the whole year.
For science today, we used a leaf model and went outside to find a real leaf that was wider, narrower, longer or shorter than the sample leaf. The Kindergarten scientists then drew and recorded in their science notebooks about their findings.
