Today we participated in Harvest Day in the Loker garden. The Kindergarteners harvested kale and swiss chard with Ms. Johnson and Ms. McGrath. After harvesting, the children read books related to gardening.
We also spent time with Mrs. Kaplan today learning about making our engine be "just right". Mrs. Kaplan told us the story about a train that was going too fast (and broke down), too slowly (and couldn't get up the track) and just right. The children colored in pictures of 3 children at the different speeds. Next week, we will continue our discussion about how to get our engine "just right".
During Fundations, we introduced the sound of 2 new letters- g-game-g and a-apple-a. We also practiced writing these letters on our white boards.
During math, we made a graph of ourselves and sorted by boys and girls. We discovered that there are more boys than girls in our classroom and used the words "more than" and "less than" to describe the graph as we added each child to our graph. This new graph will be displayed in our classroom.
We ended our day with a scavenger hunt for Friday Fun. The children read the clues and had to figure out where to go for the next clue! The scavenger hunt ended at our back door for a little extra recess time!
