What a fabulous week we have had! It has been so great to have the consistency of 5 days of learning in a row! :-)
Today we learned another sight word -like- as we read the book I Like Fall Leaves. We reviewed the way to figure out a color word and all the Kindergarteners were very successful at reading this book. Many have chosen to bring the book home- as your child reads it to you, please encourage him/her to point to each word as he/she reads and to use the pictures to help figure out the color words.
We also introduced the game "Top It" during math today. In this game, children turn over 2 cards and have to determine which card is greater. The "winner" gets to keep both cards. This game is a terrific way to reinforce number sense and to introduce the language of "greater than" and "less than". We will continue to play this game next week.
We ended our day with our Third Grade buddies. The children worked in pairs to create a person based on a glyph (or code). For example, the children were asked to color the shirt blue if they have a pet. This activity allowed each buddy-pair to get to know each other even better! The buzz in the room was a delightful way to end the day.
