We had a great time apple picking today! The children loved going on the "fast and bumpy" hay ride and getting to our apple orchard. They learned to "turn and twist" their apples and picked a full bag of apples- we hope they made it home unscathed:-). We then had time to visit the animals and pick a pumpkin. It was a 5 star day! When we got back to school, we did a "class write" to recap our trip. This was a good opportunity to talk about sentence structure and to put our thoughts into words.
When we got back to school, we helped Ms. Johnson harvest the garden and picked carrots and helped pull out the corn stalks. We look forward to also helping to plant crops in the spring:-)
We ended our day observing and drawing our class tree. We went outside and shared our observations, including the way the bark felt, the roots that were quite spread out and then recorded in our journals. Next week, our focus will be on leaves.
