Today we welcomed Sherry Yang into our classroom. Sherry is a teacher in China who will be joining us through November. We made a big sign for Sherry (who the children will be calling "Yang Lao Shi") and learned how to say "Ni Hao" which means "Hello" in Chinese! The Kindergartener were very excited to have our new guest in our classroom.
The Kindergarteners were asked to make a prediction about what would happen to some sliced apples if we left them in a bowl all day. We also put sliced apples in separate bowls with lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and water. The Kindergarten scientists loved making hypotheses and observing the apples during the day.
We continued our math stations that we started earlier in the week. The children continued to count accurately and show the value of different numbers using ten frames and five frames.
We ended our day with our Third Grade buddies! The children "interviewed" each other to find out what they have in common. We will meet with our buddies every month- ask your child if he/she remembers their buddy's name or one thing they have in common.
