:The Kindergartners were so excited to be wearing pajamas to school today!   Luckily, we were still able to get some learning done and even had a chance to play baseball and have some extra recess as part of our celebration.

In phonics, we reviewed the sound of "s". The children were asked to listen to a series of words and to make a "sizzling s" when they heard a word that starts with S.  I then wrote 2 words on the board- one that started with "S and one that did not. The children were then asked to come up to the board and circle a specific word (that started with "S").  By looking at the first letter, the children were successful at finding the correct word.
We spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. We worked as a group to look at some problems that focused on "counting on". The Kindergarteners then worked independently on their own math investigations.

We watched a special video about Christopher Columbus and talked about the terms: explorer, brave and native.  We learned , in a simplistic way, that Columbus was actually going to India when he discovered America and that's part of the reason why we don't have school on Monday.
We ended our day with a great time outside, playing baseball and fun tag games.  The baseball game ended with a score of 5-2, and everyone had a fabulous time! We are already looking forward to our next celebration!!
