Today we wrote our special book for Olivia, our Star of The Week. Ms. Lewis modeled how to most accurately draw Olivia and the children used their demonstration as they worked on their page. We also reviewed what is now in our mind files about Olivia and used this information to do our best writing.
We also introduced Math Shuffle today. Math Shuffle is when both Kindergarten classes combine and then separate out into smaller groups so that each child "gets what they need". Our focus right now for Math Shuffle is on counting and comparing. The groups are very fluid so as skills and needs change, the children in each group might change. During Math Shuffle today, we explained how this time works and introduced all the teachers who will be working with the Kindergarteners during this time.
During science today, we learned how to care for our goldfish and guppies. We fed the fish and we changed the water. During both of these processes, we observed the fish and shared our observations. We then recorded our observations in our journals.
Our day ended with a scavenger hunt during Friday Fun.! Reading clues with a teacher, the children had to determine where to go next to find the next clue!
