Wow! It was a busy day today! We started our morning with a sight word greeting. Some Kindergarteners got a sight word on their back, while others held a post-it with the sight word. After finding their match, children greeted each other. After learning 2 new sight words- are and at the children wrote a page for Emily Mui's Star of The Week book. We encouraged the Kindergarteners to remember to put a period at the end of their sentences.
Learning Centers, as usual, was a busy time in our classroom. Some chose to continue working on their marble runs, while others played "Hi-Ho Cheerio" or worked in the Creativity Center.
During math today, we spent time on Symphony Math. Our focus lesson before using the computers was on missing addends, and trying to solve a problem such as 10= 2 + ______. We continued to use the phrase "part, part, whole" to help with such equations.
We ended our day with buddies. The 3rd graders helped the KIndergarteners plan and start to create their own board games! After brainstorming the skills we have worked on this year (of which there are many!), the students worked together to make some very creative games- we will continue this work next week.
