After a fun Morning Activity of singing "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?", we transitioned right into phonics and introduced 2 new sight words- for and get. We reviewed the spelling of these words and also used them in sentences. They are now on our word wall as a reference.
We opened our mind files and reviewed and added all that we have learned about Abby this week. We then wrote about her during Writer's Workshop. We hope that Abby enjoys this very special book!
We spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. The Kindergarteners are feeling proud of their progress as they are beginning to have a very solid understaning of missing addends, equations being written in multiple ways, and using the number line to figure out the answer to a problem.
Ms. McManus joined us today as we focused on the Unthinkable "Glassman". Glassman makes us have big reactions to small problems. After reading the Elephant and Piggie book I Will Surprise My Friend , we analyzed the size of the reaction to the size of the problem.
We ended our day with Friday Science Fun as we explored wood! We looked at 5 different types of wood- basswood, particle board, plywood, pine, and redwood. Next week, the Kindergarteners will be asked to see which type of wood sinks and which type floats.
