Today we thought about Ms. Dennehy as we wrote a book for her as our Star of The Week. We also reviewed all that was already in our mind file about Ms. Dennehy. The Kindergarteners did a fabulous job brainstorming ideas and then writing independently during this time.
We spent our math time in the computer lab using Symphony Math. The Kindergarteners are feeling very comfortable when asked to compare two amounts and when asked to create number sentences. We will continue with our use of Symphony Math both in the classroom and in the computer lab next week.
Our Friday Fun focused on a STEM project of making a rain gauge for our garden! We walked to see the Loker garden with Ms. Johnson (a special education teacher at Loker and in the lady in charge of the gardens!) and discussed the importance of having a rain gauge, especially as the summer approaches and fewer people might be watering the lawn. In partners, the children planned how they were going to make their rain gauge with the supplies that were offered (mostly recylced materials and tape!). We will continue this project next week.
