We used a "microphone" this morning during Morning Meeting to help us remember to speak up when talking. We passed the microphone around the circle and used big strong voices to greet our friends.
We then "opened" up our mindfiles and reviewed all that we have learned about Adajah, our Star of The Week, We also discussed four steps to try when trying to write an unfamiliar word:
1. Tap out the syllables
2. Sound out the first syllable
3. Sound out the 2nd syllable
4. If necessary, sound out the 3rd or 4th syllable.
With this in mind, we then wrote a page for Adajah's special book during Writer's Workshop.
During math today, we spent time in the computer lab on Symphony Math. Many Kindergarteners completed the Benchmark Assessment which will me in determining what concepts we should continue to focus on as the year continues.
We ended our day with Friday Fun and planted in our flower boxes! We can't wait to see the flowers grow. The Kindergarteners loved weeding the flower box, planning where to put each flower, digging the holes, and feeling good about our fabulous gardening skills!
Finally, I wanted to make you aware of some important dates coming up:
June 1- We will be performing at school meeting between 9:00 and 9:20 (both kindergarten classes will be performing together during this time. If you cannot make it, please know that the school meetings are posted on our website
June 3- Field Day (with a rain date of June 10th)
June 9- Field Trip to Garden In The Woods
June 15- YEAR END OPEN HOUSE-- 6-7 PM.
