This morning we continued our math rotations, after reading and acting out the book Five Little Monkey Jumping On The Bed!. The Kindergarterners continued to explore our math manipulative such as magna tiles, pattern blocks, silouhette puzzles and different shaped gears. At the end of our math time, we watched a sang a video about Ten Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed!
I introduced the concept of "power fingers" today during our Handwriting time. The power fingers are your thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger. As we did different activities, the KIndergarteners were encouraged to use their power fingers to complete each activity. These activities included turning pennies over in the shape of an "A", putting buttons inside a tennis ball, making peas/raspberries out of play dough and strengthening our wrists by painting rain drops.
For Friday Fun we continued to use our power fingers! Each child had the opportunity to decorate his/her name with tissue paper which they made into little balls. We also discussed and spoke about how to properly use a glue stick, emphasizing the importance of rolling down the glue stick. We look forward to displaying their beautiful names in our classroom.
