We were lucky to start our day with 2 Mystery Readers visiting our class this morning! Ryan, Vivian's sister, and Sazie (both former students of mine who are now in Third Grade) joined us to read The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes and Spaghetti In a Hot Dog Bun. Thank you for spending part of your day with us!
The Kindergarteners continued to think about our apple picking field trip during poetry as we learned a poem about apples. The children were encouraged to circle the word "apple" and then do a dot to dot on the back of the page. We then sat around the "fire" and sang the two poems we have learned thus far.
For the first time, we used our magnetic boards during Fundations. The children put the letters "b", "t", and "f" on their boards and listened to our clues about each letter. On Monday, we will start to talk about sentence structure and the difference between letters and words.
During math, we used "inventory bags". The Kindergarteners worked in pairs to accurately count and then record what was inside a bag. We used ten frames to help count accurately and showed how to also check each other's work. We will continue this activity during math stations next week.
We ended our day with Friday Fun. Ms. Soeltz, our art teacher, has asked each Loker student to create a puzzle piece showing what he/she likes to do. After Ms. Dennehy demonstrated what was expected and we brainstormed together, the children had a blast drawing and painting. The puzzle pieces will all be put together and displayed in the main hallway.
