Today we continued to spend a lot of time on routines and expectations. We talked about what made our morning meeting successful and started to create rules for our classroom. These include raising your hand to speak, looking at the person who is talking, and listening to the person who is talking. We will continue this discussion next week.
We also introduced and talked about our "power fingers" today. The power fingers are your thumb, pointer, and middle finger. These fingers are especially important when writing and doing other fine motor tasks. To help strengthen our power fingers the Kindergarteners worked in stations which are pictured below. Ask your child where he/she went today. On Monday, we will continue these stations.
We also had Friday Fun this afternoon. After reading Chrysanthamum by Kevin Henkes, the children decorated their own names (which were in bubbly letters) and we will display these around the room.
It was a terrific day!
