We had another fabulous Morning Meeting where children took time to share and to ask questions. After this, we transitioned to phonics where we sorted words which start with M, D, and S. We then also introduced a new sight word - like and read the book Foods I Like. Many children are bringing home their books- please encourage your child to point and to use the picture clues to help figure out the words.
After recess, we introduced how to properly write the letters "B" and "R". The Kindergarteners got their items at the "Handwritng Buffet" and then did "wet, dry, and try" to practice their letters. They then practiced on their Handwriting sheets.
We spent math in the computer lab with Symphony Math. In the mini-lesson before going on the computer, the children explained their thinking to figure out "more" or "less". We also continued to emphasize accurate and careful counting,
We read the book Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and then went for a nature walk thinking about what we would create with our leaves and items from nature. We will continue this project next week.. :-)
