It may have been cold outside...

But it was toasty warm in our classroom . :-)  Today we introduced the sound of a new letter- M- Munching Monkey while reviewing the sound of S (Sizzling Sausages).  We listened to words that either started with S or M or ended with S and M. Tomorrow we will do a whole group sort as we think about these sounds.  We encouraged the children to think about these sounds as they wrote about their weekends in their Kindergarten journals (thanks again for the prompts and reminders you have been given your child to help with this task! ).  During Skills Lab, the Kindergarteners were also formally introduced to Lexia- a phonemic awarenesss program which we will be using twice a week - once in the classroom on i-Pads and once a week in the computer lab.  This was hard for many and resulted in a few tears :-(.  Hopefully, with more practice, the children will begin to feel more comfortable with the procedure for accessing Lexia.

During math today many of us continued thinking about the lengths of our names and compared them to others in our classroom while others worked on a program called Symphony Math with Ms. Dennehy on i-pads in our classroom.  Tomorrow we will begin new math stations which will continue to focus on numeracy, more than and less than.   Looking forward to another great day tomorrow!
