There was some great energy in the classroom today! The children were excited by their new table groups and it was nice to see some new connections being made surely by the proximity of the children's table spots! We shared about our weekends and then proceeded to write in our journals. I am so amazed by the progress that the children are making in their sounding out of words, understanding of the mechanics of writing a sentence, and how to make sure that their pictures match the words that are written. We also turned over the letter "C" in our alphabet (Clicking Camera) and brainstormed words that begin with "C".
During Handwriting today, the Kindergarteners learned how to properly form the letters "V" and "W" and still seem to enjoy the 3 stages of our letter writing- Wet, Dry, and Try.
This afternoon, we started math stations which included comparing inventory bags (at the Lesson Station) , Roll and Record with the greater than and less than symbol (at the Review Station), Compare and Count (at the game station), and an exploration of rekenreks which the children will be formally introduced to by Becky Lepow, our math coach, next week!
We ended the day by learning about our Star of The Week, Saoirse- tomorrow we look forward to guessing the objects that she brings to school that will start with the letter "S".
