During Open Circle today we did a check in to see how things are going in the different parts of our day: recess, classroom time, lunch time and in the hallways. As expected, we only got to our discussion about how things are in the classroom. This was a good opportunity for children to share what they feel good about and what is still difficult. I would recommend continuing this discussion at home as we will also be continuing this next week.
After reading A Busy Year by Lio Lionni, the children worked on a writing piece to answer the question "If you had a garden, what would you plant?". I said that there answers could be practical (such as children who wanted to plant tulips) or wishful thinking (such as those who want to plant money!). We will display this writing on our monthly writing board.
