Happy First Day of October! The Kindergarteners were excited to look at the new special events on our October calendar and to learn how to write today's date using numbers (10/1/2018). We also changed job this morning for our new week ahead.
Journal writing went so smoothly today- each child had an idea of what do write about and went write to work after " thinking, pairing and sharing". The Kindergarteners are working on labeling people and things in their pictures and doing their best to sound out and write any letters that they hear. I am excited to share these with you at our upcoming conferences.
We also learned the sound of 2 new letters today- m-man-m and n-nut-n. We brainstormed which words started with these 2 letters and learned that they are both "plane line letters", starting at the plane line.
During math, we all played "Roll and Match" where the KIndergarteners rolled a dice, counted the pips, and then counted in the corresponding square on their board. This game helped to review accurate counting and careful recording.
