The Kindergarteners continued to work hard on their puzzle pieces which we started on Friday. The classroom was so peaceful and quiet as they children concentrated and took pride at their work.
We also wrote in our weekend journals this morning. Many children had great ideas and shared them with a partner during our "think, pair, share" part of morning meeting. I then modeled how to label items in their pictures- not only people but objects. The children were also so excited when they started to recognize the sounds we have learned during Fundations.
During math, we started new math stations. The children played a memory game with Ms. Dennehy where they were asked to match up dot cards that showed the same value. This proved to be a challenging task to many, but it was good to talk about ways to recognize a value when looking at cards. Others worked with me to think about 5 frames and different ways to represent the numbers 3, 4, and 5.
We ended our day reading the book Mr. Happy as we start our author study of Mr. and Mrs. books. The Kindergarteners laughed and enjoyed predicting parts of the story as we read this story.
