Today we introduced the trick word "I" during journal writing and Reader's Workshop. I told the children that when we write about ourselves, we are so important that the "I" is capitalized. We also noticed the word in I Was Walking. During our journal writing, the Kindergarteners continue to show the ABCD of modeling and even started to write sentences to describe their pictures.
During Fundations, we explicitly learned how to write an "a" and "g" and noticed that these 2 letters are very similar to each other. We practiced on our white boards and then worked on a "a" worksheet at our table spots. Tomorrow morning, the Kindergarteners will work on their "g" sheets.
For math today, we walked on our number line and used it to help us figure out more and less than.. By taking the time to explore the number line, we hope it becomes a valuable tool for all students.
