This morning we introduced our new weekend journals which have lines and a specific place for a picture. We feel that this helped the Kindergarteners do their best writing yet! The children worked hard to stretch out their words and to hear the beginning and ending sounds, and sometimes even the vowels! I look forward to sharing these with you at our parent-teacher conferences.
After reading the book Maple Trees , we had Fundations where the children practiced writing "a" and "g". "g" proved to be tricky for many - we will continue practicing this letter, specifically the direction it goes at the beginning of writing so it's not backwards.
During math, we had a lot of grown ups in the room, including Ms. Lepow, the math coach, and Anthony's mom! Thank you so much for spending your time with us. The children played "Monster Squeeze" with Mrs. Choi while learning about counting a scattered array at the lesson station .To get us ready for our focus on sorting, the Kindergarteners explored shells and different math manipulatives and sorted them using sorting circles. Math stations was a very productive time for all. :-)
