The class did another great job writing in their journals today. During my mini-lesson I showed (for those who are ready) how to draw lines for each word in their sentences. We also reviewed our trick words- the, like, and , I and reminded the Kindergarteners that these should be written correctly in their journals.
During Fundations, we learned the sounds of s-snake-s and d-dog-d. I emphasized that both these letter start on the plane line like "c". I hope this instruction will help, specifically, to differentiate between "b" and "d".
The class had a blast acting out I Went Walking during Reader's Workshop. This was also a choice during Choice Time and I was pleased to see some children reading and acting out the story.
During math, we practiced and learned how to write the numbers 4 and 5. We then used each other's backs as our "writing boards"- there was a lot of laughter as we did this! I do find that 4 and 5 are quite tricky for Kindergarteners so we will continue to practice these numbers.
