Wow! What a busy day it was! We started the day by finishing the Tacky The Penguin projects we ended our day with on Friday. All the penguins are now hung up- come and check them out! This project required the Kindergarteners to follow 8 steps of directions, trace and cut, and put their own creative spin on their penguins. They are pretty spectacular!
We also introduced the sound of 2 new letters - Y- Yackety Yak and Q- Couldn't Quack. I reminded the children that "Q" and "U" stick together like glue and then brainstormed words starting with both Y and Q.
After learning about Julia, our new Star of The Week, we created a brainstorm list of what we already know about Martin Luther King and what we want to know. We read the book Martin Luther King and discussed the word "fair" and its importance to MLK. This week, we will continue reading books about Martin Luther KIng and then will write and share our dreams for the world and for our families.
We started new math stations this week. Thank you to Stephanie Galloway for volunteering and helping us at the game station. At the lesson station we introduced the addition symbol and ways to write a number sentence, while other children read the room for hidden dominoes. They were asked to then record the domino and to write the sum of the dots on the domino. We will continue these stations tomorrow.
