We formally introduced our word wall today by putting each child's on this special class tool. As the year continues, we will add "trick words" which are common words in the English language which children will learn to memorize.
The children also worked hard on their weekend journals, continuing to stretch out words independently as they work. We often hear "I'm done!" to which we answer "When you're done, you've just begun", encouraging each child to either add more details to their drawing, add another sentence, or label items in their picture.
We started new math stations today. Thank you to Elyse's mom for joining us and helping the children play "top it" where they compared numbers and used the scripted number sentence of "I have more/less than _____". Children with me had to explain how to figure out how many cubes were hiding under my bowl by hints I gave them. We also practiced writing the numbers 6, 7, and 8.
