We started our morning with Cameran's mom, Jessica, joining us as the Mystery Reader! She read two books- Color Magic and The Snowy Day- thank you for sharing your morning with us- we loved having you!
We then used an action word (verb) to describe something that we did over the weekend. We then used these words and made sentences to use in our weekend journals! The Kindergarteners did a great job sharing and then writing about their weekends.
During phonics, we turned over the letter J- Jumping Jumprope. We then brainstormed words that begin with J and then sorted words that begin with J and G. It was quite a busy morning!
During math, we started new math stations! We are continuing to focus on measurment and this week it was about volume. The Kindergarteners were presented with different sized containers and had to determine how many cubes each would hold. At the review station, children used shape puzzles and compared which held more and which held fewer cubes. At exploration the Kindergartners had a chance to use pan balances to weigh and compare the weight of different objects!
We finshed our day with Open Circle. We reviewed that Red Light means to stop. We then discussed that "yellow light" means to brainstorm all the ways to solve a problem. We modeled this by modeling 3 different situations, emphasizing that you want as many ideas as possible in case your first thoughts don't work. Next week, we will discuss green light, go!!
Quick Reminder- it is very wet in the snow!! Please send waterproof gloves and even a change of socks. Thank you so much!! :-)
