Today we continued to review spaces between words, legible handwriting , and sentence structure (wow! That's a lot...) during our journal writing time. By breaking down the steps, the Kindergarteners seemed more able to know what was expected and then took pride in being able to read back their work.
We continued our conversation about letter writing during Fundations as we practiced the sky line letters. We also created real words and nonsense words on our pocket chart by blending sounds together.
During math , we started new math stations. The Kindergarteners were very excited about our Exploration Station where they used pan balances to determine how many cubes different items weighed. We will continue this discussion next week, leading to making our own pan balances! The children who worked with me worked on counting a scattered array, while others reviewed the "matchy match" technique with Ms. Dennehy.
