We started our morning with Jack's mom joining us as a Mystery Reader. Joanna read the Kittens First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes- thank you for spending some of your morning with us!
During phonics time, we used unifix cubes to represent the words in our sentences. As we said each word in our sentence, we moved a cube. I then modeled how to sound out each word. As the children transitionted to writing in their journals, some used the unifix cubes to help them plan and then write their words.
During math today, we started new math stations. At the Lesson Station, we used used pennies to balance different items such as a golf ball and a toy train on our pan balances! At the review station, children completed a page on sequencing when getting dressed to go outside! We also played "Chutes and Ladders" again this week as it seemed quite challenging for many children last week.
We ended our day focusing on the green light of the Traffic LIght during Open Circle. We reviwed the 2 former steps (stopping and calming down and brainstorming ways to solve the problem). Part of our discussion about the green light is to know that if a plan doesn't work, you can always try a different solution and that is okay!
