We started our morning with Andrea McDonald joining us as our Mystery Reader. She read the book . Thank you for joining us this morning!
We also started learning about Mateo, our Star of The Week! Mateo shared his poster and each child added to to their mind file about all the things they now know about Mateo. We look forward to guessing Mateo's mystery items tomorrow! :-)
We also focused on ending sounds during our phonics lesson today. As we said words, we emphasized the last sound in our words and sorted words by their last letter sound. I will ask children to do this independently tomorrow morning when they come into class.
During math, we started new math stations. Children working with me focused on "part, part, whole" to build a specific number. Others worked with Ms. Dennehy to learn the chants for writing each number. This week we are focusing on numbers 1, 2, and 3. Others worked in pairs to create number stories for a specific number sentence. We will continue these stations on Wednesday.
During Open Circle, we talked about how to work with a partner and to make things "fair". We then asked the children (in pairs) to paint together. This is part one of an Eric Carle project we will be continuing tomorrow based on Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me.
