Today we started to learn about Tanner, our Star of the Week. Tanner shared and then answered some questions about such things as his favorite holiday, things he likes to do when he is not at school, and so on :-)
The class continued to do a fabulous job with their writing in their weekend journals. Today we introduced the trick word went as we are finding that this is often used when writing in their journals. Some Kindergarteners also chose to include how they were feeling when writing about their weekend activities.
During phonics today, we used puzzle pieces as a way to review the letters and sounds we have learned thus far. We also added "x" and "y" to our magnetic words and made words such as "fox", "six", "yet" and "yak". The children love showing what they know- feel free to have them spell CVC words for you at home- I think they will love it!
Tanner's dad joined us for math stations today. The KIndergarteners played top-it wih dot cards and continued to use the words "more than" and "less than". Children who worked with me used a work mat to help add and decrease the number of cubes on their board. Others continued using inventory bags while others worked with Ms. Lepow during this time.
