The class did a great job sharing about their weekend and then writing/drawing about it in their journal. The Kindergarteners are doing a good job remembering where capital and lower case letters belong, and to end a sentence with a period. We continued our focus on reading/writing as we transitioned to Literacy Centers. I met with 2 groups and gave them new independent reading books, while Ms. Dennehy played a vowel game with 2 groups to reinforce the medial vowel sounds. Wow! The Kindergarteners are working very hard.
During math, we started new math stations. At the lesson station, the children told stories that went along with the equation that I presented. They used "story boards" which were a barn, a street, a garden, and a tree. The story board helps to give them a framework for their stories. Ms. Dennehy worked with groups on addition and subtraction facts, helping children understand what an equation represents as well as how to correctly write the equation.
