We started our morning with Olivia's mom joining us as our Mystery Reader. She read two fabulous books- one by Dr. Seuss and other about dinosaurs and their manners. Thank you for being with us this morning!
We started learning about Maggie, our Star of The Week, this morning. We opened up our mind files, "took Maggie's file" and added all the new information that was shared into our file! We look forward to learning even more as the week progresses!
We also turned over our last consonant of the alphabet - V- Vaccuming Vacuum. We then sorted words by their ending sounds. We then used these skills and transitioned to Writer's Workshop where we encouraged the Kindergarteners to think about spaces in their writing. Thank you, again, for talking with your child about what he/she will write in their Monday journal. It has a fabulous affect on their ability to remember, draw, and then feel succesful with their work (especially first thing on a Monday morning)!
During math, we continued to focus on missing parts and on telling number stories. We also introduced how to write the numbers 4, 5, and 6 during math stations. We will continue these stations tomorrow.
We finished our day with Open Circle. We talked about our "smarts" and how all have different smarts - some that we have learned and others that we are trying to grow. I modeled and showed my smarts and the smarts I am growing. We will continue to talk about our smarts with Ms, Pirelli on Thursday.
