The class was excited to come to school today and talk about the Superbowl last night. Our morning meeting question was to draw a face- happy, sad, or neutral to show how they felt about the final score. We also talk the opportunity to talk about what it means to feel "neutral".
During Writer's Workshop, we looked at the journals of 3 students whose work showed all the things on which we have been working on: a sentence that gave good information, spaces between words, lowercase and uppercase letters where they belonged, and a period at the end of their sentence. The Kindergarteners seemed very inspired by the work of their peers and did a great job in their journals.
We started to learn about Neil, our Star of The Week. Neil shared his poster with the class:-) . Tomorrow we look forward to guessing Neil's clues.
During math we started new math stations-the children who worked with me focused on "growing and shrinking" according to the number rolled on a dice. The focus was also on adding on and subatizing. Kindergarteners worked with Ms. Dennehy on telling a number story based on the equation that they "popped". Ask your child about this fun way of creating an equation...
