The Kindergarteners came in very excited today to talk about last night's Superbowl! The children shared some of the highights and we even watched a quick highlight video during quiet time!! It's just so exciting...
Before Writer's Workshoip (where many children wrote about watching the game) , we reviewed the sounds of the long vowels in the alphabet. We also segmented one syllable words (which had long vowel sounds) and I demonstrated how to tap and then write each sound. The KIndergarteners were very excited to write this technique as they wrote today!
We had the opportunity today to meet the author Jacqueline Davies who read us one of her books. She spoke to the Kindergarten and First Grade students about loud sounds and soft sounds and the importance of words. It was a fabulous presentation!
We also started to learn about Jack today- our Star of The Week! He shared his poster and answered many of our questions. Tomorrow we look forward to guessing his clues for items that start with "J"!
We also began new math stations today and continued to focus on part, part, whole. Thank you to Mateo's mom for joining us today! We couldn't have done it without you:-)
