During Morning Meeting, we did "think, pair, share" to help us think about our weekends. I offered the sentence starter of "My weekend was __________ because" as a way of using an adjective to describe the weekend. I also challenged the Kindergarteners to use one of our new trick words (his, is, went, was) in his/her writing.
We started a new author study this week! Dr. Seuss! The children were very excited to read along with The Cat In The Hat and we had a lengthy discussion based on the question at the end of what would you do if your mother asked you? We talked about integrity and how important it is to tell the truth.
During math, we started a new unit about shapes. We talked about the meaning of the word "curve" and we identified and described rectangles and triangles during math stations. We also continued to review how to write math equations and played "snap" with Ms. Dennehy.
Ellliott is our Star of The Week and he did a great job sharing his poster this afternoon. We added a lot of new information to our mind file about Elliott and look forward to his clues tomorrow!
Mr. Jones read the book Lying Up A Storm by Julia Cook which talked about the importance of showing integrity. Thank you for joining our class today, Mr. JOnes!
