Today we started to learn about Kate, our Star of The Week. We opened our mind files and added all of what Kate shared to our file about Kate. We look forward to guessing your clues tomorrow, Kate.
During Fundations, we learned the spelling rule that "ck" comes after a short vowel in a one syllable word. The Kindergarteners then created words such as "sick", "puck", "duck", "back" and even "track". Some children remembered this rule while writing in their journals, which showed great understanding of this spelling rule.
During math, we played "Fill The Hexagon". Working in groups of 3 children, the Kindergarteners rolled the dice. They either landed on a hexagon, rhombus, or trapezoid. The first person to fill 6 hexagons with different shapes won the game. This game focused on the fact that big shapes are made from smaller shapes.
