It was so wonderful to see each child's smiling (maybe tired) face as he/she came to school today! During morning meeting, each Kindergartener had a chance to share about his/her week and we used those thoughts to write in our journals this morning. After reading shuffle and a Dr. Seuss read aloud, we started to learn about Andrew, our Star of The Week. We added a lot of new information to our mind files about Andrew!
During Fundations, I divided the class into "digraph" teams- ch, sh, th, wh and ck. They were asked to walk around the classroom looking for words with their digraph. They had a blast and this was a perfect way to review the digraphs as well as vowels when reading!
We had new math stations today . We reviewed 3-D shapes by taking a "quiz" all together to try and figure out the name of a shape based on the description. Then, children had a chance to explore and build with 3-D shapes. Children also worked with Ms. Dennehy to flip and count 6-10 chips and then to create a number sentence using the flipped chips. With me, we thought about the sum of 6 and used playing cards to "make 6".
