The children were excited to finish up their project from Friday and it was nice and calm way to start our day. After completing that work, we had morning meeting where the children shared about their weekends. This share transitioned us nicely to journal writing where every child wrote at least 2 sentences.! Wow!
During fundations, I introduced the term "digraph" to officially introduce the sounds of "sh", "th", "wh", "ch" and "ck". I explained that consonants sometimes work together to make one sound. Therefore, when tapping out these sounds we do so with one tap. We then used our magnetic boards to reinforce the sounds and creation of new words.
Ms Lepow joined us during math as we started to introduce 3-dimensional shapes. One group did a shape hunt around the classroom, while another sorted the shapes by those that have corners and those that don't. The group with me had a mystery bag where they had to match their shapes by my description. The 3-D shapes that we will be focusing on are: cone, cube, sphere, and cylinder.
