Today we were treated to Elijah's mom as our Mystery Reader - thank you for joining us She read the book The Crayons Quit.
Ms. Sontag also joined us this morning and shared a focused lesson on syllables. She described syllables as the train and the sounds as the people. Ms. Sontag also emphasized that every syllable has a vowel so this can be helpful when reading as well as writing "difficult" words. We will continue to focus on syllables as a method to figure out words as the year continues.
Ms. Lepow joined us for math stations this afternoon, as we continue to think about decomposition of numbers. The Kindergarteners enjoyed playing the game "Make 10" which was ijntroduced last week and are becoming experts on different ways to create 10. With me, children worked on instantly recognizing combinations to 8 and then writing equations.
Finally, we reviewed our class rules during Open Circle and how and why we made these rules at the beginning of the year. This helped many refocus and understand the expectations of our classroom community.
