We had another very busy day today! The Kindergarteners were very excited to have me (Mrs. Wyner) as the Star of The Week! I shared my poster and hopefully added to the children's mind files for what they know about me. Tomorrow I will plan to bring in 3 items that either start with I or W.
During Phonics today, we introduced "bossy e" which goes at the end of a word to make a vowel say its name. We changed words such as "rid" into "ride", "ton" into "tone" and so on. See if you and your child can think of any words together!
We went to the garden today to check on our rain gauges and noticed that many did not make it through the rain storms of yesterday. We will spend time tomorrow afternoon re-planning to make our rain gauges more water proof! The children certainly seem up for the challenge!
We started new math stations today. We are currently focusing on addition and subtraction to 10 and thinking of missing addends and sums. We will continue to work on these math stations the rest of the week.
During Open Circle today, we began a list of our memories of Kindergarten. We also talked about the normalcy of having lots of different feelings around this time of the year- excitement, sadness, and a feeling of confusion. I think our discussion made a lot of children feel better and more in control of their thoughts and feelings.
